Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist

Hi I am Louise

A Cognitive Behavioural psychotherapist, and Mindfulness Teacher. I want people to feel better and live better, healthier and more fulfilling lives. I want all of us to be able to find and learn ways of easing mental distress and suffering.  I have worked with thousands of people over my vast experience in the mental health setting. As an experienced overthinker and worrier myself, I have been able to put into practice the tools and skills CBT can offer. I am so grateful that I can use these skills in my own life and this has only increased my enthusiasm for working with others.

Together we can make positive changes

If you are aged between 16 – 100 years, and are experiencing depression, low mood, anxiety, excessive overthinking, panic attacks and overwhelmed, or may find you self in a constant loop of worry and have mindful of critical and negative thoughts, then please book a call to discuss whether we can work together to make positive changes to the way you experience life! Below is a list of clinical diagnosis I am specifically trained in, and have lots of experiences and results working with :

Specific Phobias

Depression

Low Self Esteem

Generalised Anxiety Disorder

Health Anxiety

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

PTSD

Changing the landscape

I feel so passionate about the way we speak about wellness and mental health and the impact it can have on all of us.  I work with so many people who think their experiences of low mood, mental health, odd thoughts, avoidant behaviours and overwhelming anxiety , to name a few for example, means or says something about them.  Of course it does – it says we are human.

Whilst Labels or a diagnosis can absolutely help us understand how to start to treat a problem,  we maybe need to look at how tightly we hold on to a label or diagnosis.  When we hold them tightly and perceive ourselves through them we can feel stigmatised, and this can lead to internal challenges within. I cannot tell you how many times I speak with individuals who had put off therapy for so long for fear of what they were experiencing meant they were weird, odd a loser, or were on the way to losing it.  A mental health deterioration should be as easy to talk about as a high temperature, and we all know it isn’t.  It is loaded. The associations and assumptions we all make about a label lead to how freely we can talk, how safely we can share, and how those who needs support can make moves to accessing it.

More to come on this…. A book maybe (in pipeline…)

Testimonials

After struggling with crippling anxiety and self loathing following a traumatic event I saw Louise. I had tried previous therapies before, but it was Louise who I felt most comfortable with who gave me the tools to break through the dark times. I no longer have flashbacks, I am back doing things I enjoy and am looking forward to the future

Every session gives me so much hope for a happier more peaceful future, even amongst the chaos. I have achieved so much more than i thought possible, and could not have dont it with out you. I am so grateful

Our mental health training provided by Louise was really engaging and she was an excellent presenter. It made me really think about mental health in a positive way the diagrams really helped. It made me reflect on how I can protect myself from chronic stress and burnout and why this is so important. It would be good to follow up on this together within the team so we can build on this internally. Thank you for investing in this for us.

I felt flat, unhappy and unsure of my role any more when I attended this workshop. In fact I did not want to attend the workshop. However the energy, expertise, and authentic approach from Louise meant that I felt safe exploring the impact of Covid on my working life, how i am so likely to be stressed at burnout but that this doesn't mean I am failing in any way. We shared ideas, and simple ways to help us all through the seismic impact of the way Covid hit us all, both personally and professionally, and i left the workshop with a lighter and more hopeful stance. My only complaint is it was not long enough and we could do with some more! - P
